Business fibre installation in Cape Town

A business line is not a home line with a bigger invoice. We check what is actually available at your address, install it properly, and make sure the office keeps working when it drops.

Cape Town has excellent fibre coverage, but which networks reach your building varies street by street. Before we quote anything, we run a coverage check at your exact address across the major network operators — Vumatel, Openserve, Frogfoot, Octotel and Link Africa — and tell you what is genuinely available rather than what we would prefer to sell you.

The difference between home fibre and business fibre is what happens when it breaks. A business line carries a service level agreement with a defined repair time, usually far shorter than the consumer equivalent. It typically comes with a static IP address, symmetrical upload and download speeds, and priority support. If your business runs VoIP phones, a cloud accounting package, or card machines, the SLA is the part you are actually paying for.

We also handle the part most providers leave out: getting the connection from the ONT on the wall to where your staff actually sit. That means internal cabling, a properly configured router and firewall, and wireless access points positioned so the signal reaches the whole floor.

Scope

What a fibre installation includes

  • Coverage check at your exact address across all major networks, with speeds and pricing compared side by side.
  • Line ordering and provisioning managed on your behalf, including scheduling the network operator’s installation team.
  • Router and firewall supply configured for business use, not the default consumer settings.
  • Internal cabling from the ONT to your server cabinet or comms point.
  • Wireless access points positioned and configured for full-floor coverage.
  • LTE or 5G failover that switches over automatically when the fibre drops.
  • Static IP configuration where you need remote access, a VPN or hosted services.
  • Handover documentation with account details, IP addressing and support contacts.

How the job runs

What happens, in order

  1. Coverage check

We check your address against every network operator with infrastructure in the area and come back with the real options, including expected install lead times.

  2. Choose the line

We compare speed, SLA, static IP and price across providers and recommend one. You see the comparison, not just the recommendation.

  3. Order and schedule

We place the order and manage the network operator’s installation booking, including any body corporate or landlord permissions needed for the trenching or riser work.

  4. Internal install

While the operator handles the street-to-building work, we run the internal cabling, mount the router, and set up the wireless so everything is ready on activation day.

  5. Activation and failover test

We confirm speeds, configure the LTE failover, and physically test it by pulling the fibre to make sure the backup takes over cleanly.

Worth knowing

Why failover matters more in Cape Town

Fibre is reliable until a contractor puts a spade through a duct, and in a city with as much active construction as Cape Town that happens more often than anyone would like. An LTE or 5G backup line costs a fraction of the fibre and switches over in seconds, usually before staff notice anything more than a brief pause.

If your phones are on VoIP, failover is not optional. Losing the internet means losing the switchboard, and a business that cannot answer its phone for a day loses far more than the cost of a backup line. We configure the failover so voice traffic gets priority on the backup connection, which keeps calls clear even on a slower link.

Common questions

Before you call

How do I know if fibre is available at my business address?

Send us the address and we will run a coverage check across all the major network operators. Coverage in Cape Town varies street by street, so a general area check is not reliable — it has to be the exact address.

What is the difference between business fibre and home fibre?

Business fibre carries a service level agreement with a guaranteed repair window, usually symmetrical upload and download speeds, and often a static IP address. Home fibre is best-effort, which means a fault can take days rather than hours.

How long does business fibre installation take in Cape Town?

Typically two to six weeks from order to activation, depending on the network operator and whether the building already has fibre infrastructure. Buildings already connected can be activated in a few days.

Can you install fibre in an office park or business complex?

Yes. Complexes often need body corporate or landlord approval for the riser and trenching work, which we arrange as part of the installation.

Do you support the line after installation?

Yes. We log and manage faults with the provider on your behalf. You call us, not a call centre queue.
